“The British Empire did so much good for the world, for civilisation, including my ancestors.”

Speaking at Reform UK’s conference, Suella Braverman used the quote while advocating a “balanced, patriotic curriculum”. She argued that schools should teach the positive legacy of the British Empire and went on to say it abolished slavery, defeated Hitler, spread democracy, gave votes for women, built railways and lifted billions out of poverty.
